 Also known as "suprem," this fabric is easily recognized by the fact that its front and back sides look different: the front side has a smooth, flat appearance, while the back side has a rougher, looped texture.

The basic structure of single jersey fabric consists of interlocked rows of loops. This structure gives the fabric a certain degree of elasticity in both the lengthwise and widthwise directions; however, the elasticity ratio remains limited in versions without lycra or elastane. Süprem fabric with lycra, by contrast, significantly increases this elasticity, allowing it to conform perfectly to body contours.

Single jersey fabric is produced using a single-knit technique, while interlock fabric has a double-sided structure. As a result, interlock fabric looks the same on both sides, whereas the front and back of süprem fabric differ from each other. Interlock is generally heavier and less elastic, while süprem offers a lighter, more breathable structure.

Cotton-content single jersey fabrics may shrink by 3–5% during the first few washes. This is largely prevented through the pre-shrinking process applied during fabric production.
