Pike Kumaş Nedir?

Piqué fabric is a textile material produced on special weaving or knitting machines, easily recognized by the characteristic embossed texture on its surface.

  • Superior Breathability
  • Distinctive Surface Texture
  • Dimensional Stability
  • Durability
  • Easy Care
  • Color and Print Compatibility

Also known as "piqué," this fabric is clearly distinguished from other fabric types by its honeycomb, basket-weave, or embossed surface structure. This distinctive texture gives the fabric both an aesthetic identity and superior functional properties.

One of the most important features of piqué fabric is that its embossed surface structure increases air circulation. Thanks to the air pockets formed between the fabric and the skin, breathability reaches a high level; this makes piqué fabric a preferred material especially in hot weather conditions and sports activities.

Piqué fabric can be produced from cotton, polyester, or a blend of the two fibers. Cotton piqué fabric stands out in everyday clothing with its natural breathability and skin-friendly structure, while polyester-blend versions are preferred in sports textiles for their moisture management and quick-drying properties.

Pike Kumaşın Özellikleri

Superior Breathability The embossed texture on the surface of piqué fabric provides continuous airflow between the fabric and the skin. This structure minimizes sweating and overheating even during prolonged use, offering a superior comfort experience in sportswear and everyday clothing.

Distinctive Surface Texture The most distinctive feature of piqué fabric is the characteristic embossed effect on its surface. This texture, with its honeycomb or basket-weave appearance, gives products a simple yet refined aesthetic.

Dimensional Stability: Piqué fabric offers much higher dimensional stability compared to flat knit fabrics. Thanks to its embossed structure, the fabric retains its shape and texture for a long time after washing and use; it does not sag or deform.

Durability The dense knit structure gives piqué fabric high abrasion resistance. It demonstrates a much longer-lasting performance in areas exposed to friction, such as collars and cuffs, compared to other fabrics.

Easy Care Piqué fabric is quite resistant to the washing demands of daily use. Its machine-washable structure and quick-drying property make care processes practical.

Color and Print Compatibility Capable of achieving homogeneous and vivid colors during dyeing processes, piqué fabric shows high compatibility with reactive dyes. It also delivers highly successful results in embroidery applications; this feature is an important factor that makes piqué fabric stand out in corporate and promotional products.

Frequently Asked Questions

GSM selection for piqué fabric should be determined according to the product's intended use and target season. For summer polo shirts where breathability is a priority, a range of 170–200 g/m² is ideal; this GSM range perfectly balances lightness and comfort. For polo shirts intended for four-season use and a more structured look, 200–240 g/m² should be preferred. For corporate uniforms and products requiring long-lasting use, GSM values of 240 g/m² and above provide a more durable, shape-retaining result.

The colorfastness of piqué fabric depends directly on the dyeing method used and the raw material quality. Cotton piqué fabrics produced using the reactive dyeing method exhibit high colorfastness against washing and sunlight. However, to prevent color fading, products made from piqué fabric are recommended to be washed on a 30–40 degree delicate wash program and turned inside out. Washing at high temperatures and using a tumble dryer should be avoided, as they can accelerate color fading.

Organic piqué fabric is a type of piqué fabric produced from organic cotton grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, and certified with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or OEKO-TEX. With a much lower environmental impact compared to conventional piqué fabric, organic piqué fabric is becoming a strategic choice for brands aiming for sustainable textile production. Organic piqué fabric is also primarily recommended for sensitive skin and children's clothing.
